Former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur forward Peter Crouch has made his prediction for tomorrow’s game.

Two of Crouch’s old clubs meet on Saturday evening, with both sides aiming to ruin the other’s unbeaten start to the season.

It promises to be a tough test for Liverpool. But looking ahead to the match for That Peter Crouch Podcast, the player turned pundit has backed Jurgen Klopp’s team to just about come out on top.

“Mine was 2-1 Liverpool,” Crouch predicted. “I have allegiance to both clubs and I could easily have sat on the fence there.”

Asked who he wanted to win, the former striker was a little more coy. However, you do get the impression he really wanted to say Liverpool.

“That’s a big question and I will sit on the fence there!” he laughed. “It’s a hard one that, because I started at Spurs but I have such an allegiance to Liverpool, a massive one.

“But I think Liverpool nick this one, the danger is the front three are emphatic, I think Spurs are a joy to watch but I just think Liverpool have got the edge.”

Crouch backs Liverpool to beat Spurs

To be fair to Crouch here, he has at least stuck his neck out and picked a winner. Ordinarily in this tie, the obvious choice has been Liverpool, but it isn’t quite so obvious this time around.

Yes, the Reds are perhaps just ever so slight favourites. Spurs really do look a team revitalised under Ange Postecoglou, though.

Coming off the back of a good point against Arsenal last weekend, they’ll smell the chance to lay down another big marker tomorrow.

But Liverpool have had their number in a big way over recent years. This will be the Reds’ fifth visit to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and they’re yet to lose.

Three wins and a high-scoring draw doesn’t exactly bode well for Spurs’ chances tomorrow. However, maybe they’ll feel that in the form they’re in, they’re due a win over Liverpool. Either way, it’s likely to be close.

If you ask most Liverpool fans right now, they’d probably take a point from the game. But then again, a win would send a strong message to the Premier League – and to Manchester City in particular – that the Reds really are back.

With a trip to Brighton coming next week, it’s a big period for Liverpool. Let’s hope Crouchy’s got this one right.
