Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring the fitness of James Maddison ahead of Saturday’s clash with Liverpool.
Maddison has been a revelation at Spurs since his £40m summer move from Leicester City. However, the 26-year-old picked up a knock to his knee while playing against Arsenal last week.
According to The Times, there is still a slight concern from Tottenham’s end that Maddison may not be quite ready to face Liverpool.

The North London side are said to be ‘optimistic’ that their No.10 will be fit, after he reportedly underwent tests this week.
But despite having now trained on grass, it’s claimed that Maddison will continue to be monitored by Tottenham’s medical staff. Should the England man feel any ‘further discomfort,’ it could rule him out of Saturday’s big game.
Question marks over Maddison
There’s no question that Maddison being absent on Saturday would hurt Tottenham. The former Leicester schemer already has two goals and four assists this season.
Filling the void – and the shirt – left by Harry Kane was no easy task, but Maddison has shown himself to be up to it.
Just six games into the Premier League season, he’s struck up a dangerous looking partnership with Son Heung-Min right from the off.

From a Liverpool point of view, no Maddison on Sunday may obviously be quite helpful in terms of getting a result.
However, you never want to see players go down with injuries, especially those as good to watch as the Spurs midfielder.
We still back Liverpool to come out on top on Saturday, no matter who Ange Postecoglou fields. The Reds are in good form themselves and should have their very own top creator – Trent Alexander-Arnold – back in the side.
So, hopefully Maddison is able to make it back, and this weekend is the spectacle it promises to be. If not though, it won’t change Liverpool’s mentality.
