Liverpool are reportedly scouting VfB Stuttgart teenager Raul Paula, with Brighton & Hove Albion also interested in the midfielder.

According to the Guardian’s Ed Aarons, the Reds are keeping tabs on the 16-year-old wonderkid, who this season has been making waves in Germany with six goals in nine reserve matches.

A full Germany youth international, Paula is easily one of the most exciting talents coming through the European giants, with Liverpool now interested in the youngster.

Liverpool are no strangers to turning to Germany to add to their youth academy, yet the noises being made about Paula could make the midfielder an exciting addition.

However, with Brighton also interested, Liverpool already face some serious competition for Paula, who could be tempted with a move to the south coast based on their youth development record.

Brighton’s record in the market in the last few seasons has been nothing short of incredible, and the Seagulls have shown that they have the tools to beat big clubs to exciting prospects.

And Paula is just that, with the Stuttgart teenager one of the most promising players coming through in Germany and already impressive at a professional level in the fourth-tier Regionalliga Sudwest.

Indeed, Liverpool will be a great move for the teenager, but the Reds need to ensure that they are the ones who land Paula’s signature, especially with Brighton also keeping tabs on the midfielder.
