Ian Wright has lauded Darwin Nunez’s goal for Liverpool this weekend, with the pundit amazed by how much space West Ham allowed the Reds.

Speaking on Wrighty’s House, the striking legend applauded the £65m attacker’s finish against the Irons, but was also critical of how West Ham gave Alexis Mac Allister so much space to create the goal.

With Nunez missing an easier chance earlier in the game, it was quite the second-half for the Uruguayan international, who has started the season well for Liverpool.

Indeed, Nunez managed to redeem himself with a sensational volley, and Wright was amazed by how easy West Ham made the goal look for the Anfield no. 9.

Wright said on Nunez’s goal against West Ham on Sunday: “I’m a Darwin Nunez fan, I was obviously devastated to see him miss that chance.

“But then he scores an even more difficult chance but then all of a sudden West Ham give Alexis Mac Allister like five yards in the midfield to chip it over the fence. I’m thinking ‘what are you doing’ after playing so well.”

Nunez knows he has to be more consistent for Liverpool

Nunez has been a frustrating character for Liverpool ever since the forward signed for the club last year, yet signs of consistency are starting to emerge.

The striker already has four goals in all competitions this season, and whilst Nunez will be annoyed to miss his earlier chance against West Ham, his second was finished with vigour and purpose.

The 24-year-old is showing signs of becoming a superstar for Liverpool, and for Nunez, it’s now all about hitting that consistency that every world-class forward has in their locker.
