Shay Given has tipped Darwin Nunez to flourish at Liverpool this season after the striker scored his third Premier League goal of the campaign this weekend.

Speaking on Match of the Day, the BBC pundit was full of praise for the 24-year-old after his performance against West Ham, with Liverpool again coming away with a win.

Nunez’s sensational finish saw the Reds retake the lead against West Ham as Liverpool ran out 3-1 winners against the Irons, with the Anfield side now sat second in the Premier League.

It’s been a sensational start to the campaign for the Reds and one that few fans would have predicted, and Nunez’s form has been key to this run, with Given predicting big things for the attacker.

The former Republic of Ireland superstar said: “Nunez today, he scored again. I think he’s going to have a big season for Liverpool. Nunez with a brilliant finish.

“That’s his third goal already this season, there were question marks over him last season, can he be the difference for Liverpool this year?”

Talk of a Premier League title charge might be premature given how few games have been played and the quality of opposition Liverpool have faced so far.

Yet there’s no denying that exciting things are happening at Anfield, and Nunez could be key in Liverpool embarking on a potential title challenge.

The attacker is in the best form of his Liverpool career, and Nunez knows that maintaining this level of performance will be key if the Merseyside giants are to compete with Manchester City for the ultimate prize.
