Pundit says Liverpool duo were transformed after half-time vs West Ham

Shay Given has said that Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai looked like two different players in the second half as Liverpool beat West Ham.

Speaking on Match of the Day 2, the pundit both criticised and slammed the duo for their displays against the Irons, with Given not impressed with how the Liverpool midfielders performed in the first half.

The pair weren’t at their best as West Ham looked the better side in the opening half, though Mac Allister and Szoboszlai looked like different players for Liverpool after the restart.

The Argentine international assisted Darwin Nunez as Szoboszlai pulled the strings from midfield, and Given was impressed with how the two responded after going into the break at 1-1.

Given said: “Mac Allister and Szoboszlai, in the first half, they were getting nowhere near people. I think Klopp has a quiet word at half-time and you can see they are much more advanced.

“Szoboszlai has had a great start to his Liverpool career, Jones got in the box a lot of times today, and again you see they are high up, getting the ball back and then runners off that.”

Liverpool duo responded brilliantly against West Ham after the break

Liverpool have become the team of comebacks this season, with the Reds responding well yesterday having drawn level with West Ham just before the break.

And Mac Allister and Szoboszlai were key to Jurgen Klopp’s side coming away with a 3-1 win, with the pair responding expertly after the half-time break at Anfield.

Whilst it shouldn’t take this long for the midfielders to get started, Mac Allister and Szoboszlai showed why Liverpool signed them this summer, and the pair will soon strike up a partnership that will be hard to match in the Premier League.
