West Ham United winger Jarrod Bowen is now unlikely to play at Liverpool when the Irons search for their first win at Anfield since 2015 in the Premier League on Sunday.
That is according to the Evening Standard, which reports that Bowen is a doubt for Sunday’s clash on Merseyside. The 26-year-old has not trained for West Ham all week after picking up a virus. It has stopped the forward from taking part in any sessions at their Rush Green base.
Hammers boss David Moyes remains hopeful that Bowen will recover in time for their trip to Anfield. The Scot will hold off until the last moment to decide on the attacker’s involvement. But Bowen was not in a position to make their squad against TSC Backa Topola on Thursday.

Moyes remains hopeful of Bowen featuring at Liverpool
Mohammed Kudus started and scored as West Ham won their Europa League opener 3-1 in Bowen’s void. Moyes will likely turn to the 23-year-old on Sunday, too, should West Ham still be without Bowen at Liverpool. But the Irons boss will monitor his recovery before their trip.
“Bowen has had a virus, so we’ll need to see how he is”, the Evening Standard quotes Moyes as noting about his illness. “I’m hoping he’ll be ok. I’ll check him. He’s not trained this week, nothing at all, so I need to see how he is.”
Klopp knows what sort of threat the West Ham winger is

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp knows exactly the sort of threat that Bowen provides Moyes at West Ham. The German hailed the winger as an ‘unbelievable’ player in March 2022 during his sensational season. Bowen scored 12 and assisted 12 goals in 36 Premier League games.
His output regressed last term for six goals and six assists in 38 appearances. But the four-cap England ace has started this term strongly with three goals and an assist. Moyes started Bowen in all five of West Ham’s fixtures, in which the Hammers only lost to Manchester City.
So, Moyes rightfully remains hopeful of having Bowen available this Sunday. Anfield has not been a happy hunting ground for West Ham in recent years. The Irons have not won away to Liverpool in any competition since August 2015 and have lost in six of their eight visits since.
