Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes is apparently close to signing a new contract and it could actually help Liverpool land him.
Reports a few weeks back suggested the Reds had offered around £100m for Guimaraes, only to see the bid flatly rejected by the Magpies.
Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, Guimaraes is set to sign a new deal and within that deal, there is a release clause that will very much be of interest to the Reds.
Bruno Guimaraes has £100m release-clause in new contract
Taking to social media this morning via his X account, Romano has confirmed that Newcastle have agreed terms with Bruno over a new deal until 2028.
However, within that contract there’ll be a release-clause of around £100m. That, of course, will prick the ears of Liverpool, having seen that bid in the same ballpark turned down.
It very much seems, then, that should Liverpool fancy going again for the midfielder, then there is a route into getting it done.

Of course, Bruno remains happy on Tyneside and something would have to change for him to want to push to move to Anfield.
But with Liverpool being willing to pay £100m in the first place, this clause will definitely cause a bit of a stir in future windows.
RTK’s View: One to watch
While we don’t expect to see Bruno move anywhere anytime soon, it’s certainly intriguing to see Newcastle stick this £100m clause into the deal.
It means that a deal could very much be done if all the ducks line up properly and it’s one Liverpool will definitely be keeping tabs on.
If we could somehow sign him, then it would be quite the signing.
