Nat Phillips could reportedly leave Liverpool for good in 2024, with the defender joining Celtic on loan in the summer window.

According to journalist Dean Jones, the 26-year-old centre-back could find himself permanently signed by the Hoops if he impresses in Scotland this season.

Phillips had been strongly tipped to leave Liverpool for good this summer, though the best the Reds could manage was a loan move to Scottish champions Celtic.

However, with Phillips’ contract expiring in 2025, the Glasgow giants could be eager to sign the centre-back for good if he impresses at Celtic Park this season.

Having played just one game for Celtic, though, early signs don’t give us a clear enough picture yet on if the Hoops will be willing to sign Phillips permanently in 2024.

Yet with the Liverpool man a quality defender, it might not take long for Phillips to show his new club that he can be a crucial first-team player for Celtic this campaign.

Phillips not leaving permanently this summer will remain one of the objectives Liverpool really missed out on, which is why Celtic could now offer the Reds a lifeline.

The Hoops are no strangers to buying fringe Premier League players and transforming them into superstars, and Phillips could be next to enjoy the same treatment in Scotland.

Indeed, it’s early days for Phillips at Celtic, but with talk of a permanent move already being mooted, Liverpool will hope that the defender can be sold for good next year to get the centre-back off the books.
