Germany are reportedly plotting to move for Jurgen Klopp next year despite the Liverpool manager stating he wants to stay at Anfield.

According to journalist Raphael Honigstein, the DFB have been hoping to appoint Klopp for some years, with the board set to make a move for the Liverpool figure after Euro 2024.

With Julian Nagelsmann expected to only take Germany through next year’s Euros, Klopp will emerge as an obvious candidate to take over the European giants, and speculation is already starting.

Honigstein said about Germany’s interest in Klopp: “Germany have been hoping to appoint Jurgen Klopp for many, many years.

“But the fact that the next manager’s only there for 10 months, and we know already that he’s going to leave at the end of the Euro’s, unless he changes his mind through his existing contract, then Klopp will come into contention.

“The speculation will start now really. I’ve seen it already in a few German newspapers.”

Klopp needs to state next year he doesn’t want Germany job

With Klopp already saying he doesn’t want the Germany job this week, the Liverpool boss will have to make a similar statement next year if the manager is to fend off even more interest.

The DFB seem hellbent on appointing Klopp as manager of the national team, and Liverpool need to ensure that their main man on the touchline is still sold on the new Anfield project.

Indeed, Klopp leaving Liverpool next year would be disastrous, and the Reds will want to hop that the German decides to stay even if the DFB come in strong with an approach for the Premier League boss.
