Harvey Elliott has hailed Andy Robertson’s off-the-pitch personality after the Liverpool defender’s heroics on Saturday.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, the Anfield midfielder was full of praise for the 29-year-old Scotland international after Robertson’s late strike guided the Reds to a 3-1 win against Wolves.

Robertson’s personality is known throughout the Liverpool community, and Elliott is the latest player to speak glowingly about the former Hull City defender away from the action.

Elliott said about Roberson behind the scenes: “He’s a great guy and he’s great to have in the changing room because he is always encouraging people and wanting to bring that positive energy.

He is as funny as anything and it’s great to be around him. I’ve no idea where [he gets his energy from]. I think he is just always energetic, he is bringing the energy into the group.

“Whenever anyone is feeling deflated in the group he is always there to pick us up and if you speak to him he’s that natural Scottish energy. What a player and what a guy.”

Robertson’s role as one of the leaders in the Liverpool dressing room is key for a number of young players at Anfield, with Elliott one such figure.

The midfielder is part of the next generation at Liverpool that will likely be at the club long after Robertson has moved on, and Elliott can take some key lessons from the Scottish international.

A positive attitude off the pitch can lead to results on it, and Robertson’s personality is a testament to such a statement and one that Elliott could learn from.
