Liverpool might have got a win today and Cody Gakpo might have got a goal, but that didn’t save him from some criticism in the 90 minutes.
Gakpo got the equalising goal for the Reds before being subbed off immediately after. The Dutchman tapped home Mo Salah’s cross to help Liverpool back into the game.
However, that was just about the highlight for Gakpo, who was criticised by Jermaine Jenas for his performance on the whole.
Jermaine Jenas unhappy with Cody Gakpo during Liverpool v Wolves
Speaking about Gakpo in the first half of the game against Wolves, former Tottenham and Nottingham Forest midfielder Jenas picked up on how poor Gakpo had been.
Commenting on Gakpo in the 26th minute for TNT Sports, Jenas said he felt Gakpo was just looking completely lost.

“Gakpo, I’m wathing him and he’s running round like he doesn’t know where he is at the minute. He’s had seven touches in the game.
“The least of any player on the pitch. At least with someone like Nunez you know he’s going to make some runs in behind and as a midfield player, help each other out. But at the minute, he just looks lost,” Jenas said.
Of course, in the end, Gakpo will be happy he got his goal. But with the game really changing when Darwin Nunez came on, the Dutchman might well worry when his next start will come.
RTK’s View: Nunez over Gakpo right now
While Cody Gakpo got the crucial goal to get us back into the game, it’s pretty obvious Liverpool seem a better team when Darwin Nunez is on the field.
The Uruguayan striker looks a serious threat and looks like he is worrying defences a lot more than Gakpo does.
Of course, a win was the main thing. But while Jenas’ comments were perhaps a bit premature, Gakpo will be sweating a bit over whether or not he gets the nod in the next fixture.
