Liverpool reportedly scouted Benfica defender Antonio Silva during the international break, with the youngster featuring for Portugal.

Silva started for Portugal against Slovakia in a 1-0 win for Roberto Martinez’s side, and the defender certainly impressed with Liverpool scouts watching from above.

With a release clause worth £88m as reported by Record, Silva would be a dream defensive signing for Liverpool given his age and experience already at such a young age.

A centre-back who Jamie Carragher has waxed lyrical about, there’s a lot to like about Silva, and at 19, the best is yet to come from the Benfica wonderkid in the years to come.

Indeed, Silva ticks every box Liverpool will be looking at in a potential defensive signing, yet with an £88m release clause, actually landing the centre-back might be quite a struggle for the Reds.

It’s almost hard to comprehend how good a defender Silva already is at just 19-years-old, with the Portuguese superstar on track to become one of the best in the world at his current pace.

And for Liverpool, Silva would be a dream signing for 2024, with defence an area of the squad that Jurgen Klopp will want world-class recruitments in.

Whilst the fee for Silva might be a world-record one for a defender, the investment might be worth it given how exciting the youngster is, with Liverpool firmly in the hunt for the teenager.
