Jurgen Klopp’s agent has categorically ruled out the Liverpool manager quitting Anfield to take on the vacant Germany position.

Speaking to Sportschau, Marc Kosicke confirmed that Klopp will honour his contract at Liverpool and is not available to take on the Germany job.

Klopp’s agent said when asked if the Liverpool boss could leave Merseyside: “Jurgen has a long-term contract with LFC and is not available for the national coaching position.”

Klopp has been an outside favourite to take the Germany job after Hansi Flick was this weekend sack from his role after a 4-1 friendly loss to Japan.

Whilst the odds were always low on Klopp leaving Liverpool to return home, his agent’s comments now confirm that no such switch will happen in the coming days.

Indeed, the news will bring a massive sigh of relief to Liverpool supporters and officials, with Klopp now set to stay with the Anfield side until at least the end of the season.

Klopp quitting Liverpool this early into a new season was always going to be the unlikeliest of circumstances, and the German’s comments confirm that such a scenario won’t be happening.

Whilst there’s always a chance that Klopp can return home to take the Germany role, the time is simply not right for such a switch to happen.

For Liverpool, the Reds can now put their focus on their upcoming Premier League game against Wolves, with Klopp looking to extend his side’s unbeaten run to five games.
