Bruno Guimaraes is reportedly set to sign a new contract with Newcastle United with a release clause worth over £100m, amid interest from Liverpool.

FootballTransfers claim that the Brazilian international is close to agreeing fresh terms with the Magpies amid a summer where Liverpool made an approach for Guimaraes on deadline day.

As per the report, though, Newcastle are making a big play in trying to keep the 25-year-old at St. James Park, with Guimaraes set for a huge pay increase with the Toon.

Moreover, Guimaraes’ new contract will include a release clause, something that might entice Liverpool into making another move for the former Olympique Lyonnais superstar.

Indeed, the Reds are likely to dive into the market in the next 12 months to sign yet another midfielder, and Guimaraes could be a dream signing for Jurgen Klopp and his squad.

Yet with Guimaraes’ release clause set to be worth well over £100m, Liverpool will have to splash out on a club-record fee to bring the Brazilian to Anfield.

Guimaraes is clearly a player Liverpool admire highly, and the Reds need to be smart in their next move for the midfielder in the coming months.

With the 25-year-old set to sign a new contract with a set release clause, Liverpool have time to get their affairs in order and to make a solid plan to bring Guimaraes to Anfield.

Moreover, Guimaraes himself could be keen on a move to Liverpool given their stature in the Premier League and how exciting Klopp’s project could be in the years to come.
