Former Premier League striker Jay Bothroyd has claimed that Darwin Nunez should be doing more if he wants to become a top forward for Liverpool.
Speaking on the Saturday Social, the one-time England international suggested that the Uruguayan superstar needs to finish his chances more after a mixed first year at Anfield.
Whilst Nunez has started the new season in stunning fashion, critics still think the 24-year-old has to be doing more if he’s to truly set himself from other attackers in the Premier League.

And Bothroyd is one such pundit who thinks this is the case, with the former Cardiff City and Queens Park Rangers star suggesting that Nunez has to do more for Liverpool.
The pundit said when asked about Nunez: “When he has played he’s played the majority of games on the left, and when he has played as a striker I don’t think he’s played well.

“We spoke about missing chances, and he’s missed loads of chances. I know pricetags, at £80m, I’m expecting him to come in and score goals, but he hasn’t done it in the Premier League yet. He has to really work on his composure as a striker.”
Nunez will do more for Liverpool in the coming weeks

Nunez’s form four games into the new Premier League season has been impressive, to say the least. And whilst critics have a right to suggest that the forward needs to do more, the 24-year-old is doing just that.
The striker was clinical in Liverpool’s 2-1 win against Newcastle United, with Nunez also doing well in the follow-up match against Aston Villa at Anfield.
Breaking last season’s tally of 15 in all competitions feels likely for Nunez, and comments from the likes of Bothroyd will only spur Nunez on to impress even more.
