Liverpool youngster Trey Nyoni scored a hat-trick for the Reds in a friendly game yesterday.
Nyoni is a new signing in the Liverpool academy, having joined from Leicester City towards the end of August. And he’s wasted no time settling in.
As per liverpoolfc.com, the 16-year-old bagged himself three goals as the Reds U18s battered their Southend United counterparts 10-0.

“It was a really pleasing performance and we played really well,” says U18s coach Marc Bridge-Wilkinson. “We scored some excellent goals and it was nice to see the work we’ve been doing on the training pitch really pay off today.
“Trey got his first goals in a red shirt, he will take a lot from that, and it was great to have Ranel [Young] back. Fair play to Southend United as well. They never gave up even with the high scoreline, they kept working hard and we thank them for coming to Kirkby.”

Nyoni makes early impression
Before Liverpool signed Nyoni, he was labelled as one of the best young midfielders in the country by Twitter account The Secret Scout.
After hitting a hat-trick from midfield so early on into his Reds career, expectations will not be dampened.
However, it’s important to note that this was only a friendly. As the scoreline suggests, it was also against an academy side far below Liverpool’s level.

Nevertheless, the early signs are very promising that Nyoni could be an excellent young prospect.
As the rise of Ben Doak showed last year, the U18s are worth keeping a close eye on. There are a number of good talents in the current squad, with Trent Kone-Doherty another to keep watch over.
Furthermore, there were three other players who scored a brace for Liverpool in yesterday’s friendly.
Kareem Ahmed, Afolami Onanuga and Ranel Young all bagged twice, with Wellity Lucky grabbing the final goal. Plenty of names to get familiar with, Reds. Well in, Trey!
