Jurgen Klopp has praised Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn ahead of facing him on Sunday.
Villa come to Anfield to take on Liverpool in a tricky looking fixture for Klopp’s side. With May’s 1-1 draw still fresh in the memory, the Reds know they won’t get an easy ride.
And speaking about Unai Emery’s side in his pre-match press conference today, Jurgen picked out the ‘super smart’ John McGinn as someone his team will have to watch.
“Everybody agrees when you look at Villa, the players they have brought in make massive sense,” said the Liverpool manager.
“They have speed in the wings, Watkins up front, McGinn is super smart, physical as well, but really looking for balls in behind so it is a massive game.”
Sunday really is a massive game for Liverpool, and another massive test for this new-look side.

After Newcastle last week, it’s another game Klopp would ideally want Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk at the back for.
But nevertheless, Liverpool will have to make do without their first-choice centre-back pairing.
McGinn will be one of the players trying to take advantage of that. The 28-year-old is criminally underrated and is a huge part of this exciting looking Villa side.
If Liverpool can keep the Scotsman quiet at Anfield, then they’ll have a much better chance of winning the game. Time for the Reds’ new-look midfield to do its job.
