Thiago Alcantara’s father has said he wishes for his son to one day play for Celta Vigo, with the Liverpool midfielder growing up in Galacia.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Mazinho, the father of Thiago and FIFA World Cup winner with Brazil, made a public plea for his son to one day play for Celta, the club he himself is a legend at.
Thiago and his brother Rafinha both grew up in Galacia before joining FC Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, with the Liverpool midfielder one of the most accomplished players in football in the last ten years.

With Celta Vigo sitting 18th in La Liga, Thiago making the move might be unlikely this summer, though the Liverpool star’s father seems keen on a transfer to happen in the future.
Mazinho said: “In football, you never know, I hope so [that he can sign for Celta] but at the moment it is very complicated because Thiago has another lifestyle. But I wish Thiago could come here.

“Almost all the memories I have from here are very good. Vigo is our home. Rafinha has had the opportunity to come here later to play two seasons. For the whole family, Celta means our home.”
Thiago leaving Liverpool for Celta Vigo would be sentimental

Thiago’s time at Liverpool is set to come to an end in the next 12 months, with the £25m midfielder’s contract with the Anfield side due to expire next summer.
And if Thiago was looking for a sentimental move, Celta Vigo can be that club, especially with his father keen to see him make the switch in the coming years.
Whilst Celta Vigo won’t be challenging for silverware anytime soon, the La Liga side could be a great final move for Thiago at this stage of his career, with the midfielder likely to be keen on a transfer.
