Johan Bakayoko is reportedly set to stay at PSV Eindhoven this summer despite rumours in recent weeks linking the winger to Liverpool.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the Belgian international has decided to remain in the Netherlands, with PSV now in talks to award Bakayoko with an improved contract.

Liverpool have been one of many sides linked with the 20-year-old forward this summer, though it now looks likely that Bakayoko will remain in Eindhoven with PSV.

Lauded by Foot The Ball as an ‘incredible’ talent, Bakayoko is easily one of the most exciting forwards in all of Europe, and Liverpool could have been a good destination for the winger.

However, it is now becoming clear that Bakayoko will remain in Holland with PSV, with Liverpool set to miss out on another target this summer.

Bakayoko was always a weird link to begin with based on Liverpool’s need for anything but a wide-attacker this summer, even if the Belgian is as exciting as he is.

And the Reds will likely feel little pain in Bakayoko deciding to stay with PSV, with another year in Holland likely the best decision the forward could have made to begin with.

As a result, Liverpool could look to return for Bakayoko next year if the attacker hits another level, with PSV also likely to cash in on the Belgian star should he become too good for the division.
