Bayern Munich are reportedly moving to sign Joao Palhinha, with the Fulham midfielder strongly linked with a move to Liverpool.

According to Christian Falk, the Portuguese international is now a target for Thomas Tuchel’s side, with Palhinha potentially on the way out of Craven Cottage heading into deadline day.

Palhinha has been heavily rumoured to be wanted by Liverpool, though per journalist Dean Jones, the Reds aren’t willing to meet Fulham’s £80m demands for the 28-year-old.

As a result, Bayern could now make a swoop to sign the Premier League star, with Palhinha potentially a replacement for if Ryan Gravenberch was to leave Bavaria.

With Liverpool also linked with the Dutch midfielder, the Reds signing the 21-year-old could now trigger a butterfly effect that could see Palhinha head to Germany as Gravenberch’s replacement at Bayern.

Transfers triggering other moves are hardly anything new in football, and Liverpool moving for Gravenberch could now see Bayern make their own attempt to sign Palhinha.

Given what Tuchel wants in a midfielder, the Portuguese international could be an ideal replacement for Gravenberch, who in turn could be more suited to Liverpool than the Fulham star.

Indeed, Liverpool’s move for Gravenberch might see them miss out on a top target in Palhinha, but the 28-year-old moving to Bayern could prove more beneficial for all parties.
