Alan Shearer has urged Jurgen Klopp to start Darwin Nunez for Liverpool, with the striker the man of the moment for the Reds.
Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, the pundit strongly suggested that the Uruguay international should be in the starting XI after coming off the bench against Newcastle United to score a brace.
With Nunez also arguably Liverpool’s best player in pre-season, it is strange that the forward is yet to start for the Reds in the Premier League. Though Sunday’s heroics could change that.

And one pundit who is keen to see Nunez start for Liverpool is Shearer, with the Newcastle legend urging Klopp to give the 24-year-old the start this weekend against Aston Villa.
Shearer said: “There is no way he can’t play after what he did at the weekend. He has got to be back in the starting XI, hasn’t he? He was deadly when he came on. Those two finishes were just sensational.

“He has to start, then it’s up to him. He can’t miss as many chances as he did last season. You would think and hope that this can kick-start his Liverpool career now.”
Liverpool have to take on Shearer’s comments on Nunez

Nunez’s performance against Newcastle was short but to the point, with the attacker’s two lethal finishes the difference between the Reds coming away with three points or an unlikely defeat.
And Shearer is on the money when he says Nunez should be starting this weekend against Villa, with Nunez no doubt fired up to keep his goalscoring antics up.
Moreover, Klopp himself should be convinced that Nuenz is up to the task of leading Liverpool’s forward line, with the South American potentially about to hit the best form of his Reds career.
