Al-Ittihad have reportedly sounded out a move for Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate, with the Saudi Arabia side also chasing Mohamed Salah.

According to journalist Fabrice Hawkins, the French defender is the latest target for the Middle Eastern giants, with Al-Ittihad already signing Fabinho from Liverpool this summer.

Salah has also been heavily linked with a move to the Saudi Arabian side, and Konate is now believed to be a target for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

However, the French international is not sold on a move to Al-Ittihad, with Konate happy at Liverpool and eager to achieve his goals in Europe with the Reds.

As a result, there seems to be little threat of Konate leaving Liverpool just two years after making a £36m switch from RB Leipzig to Merseyside.

Saudi Arabia’s new dominance in the transfer market has seen a number of high-profile players in the peak of their careers make the move to the Middle East, yet Konate seemingly won’t be one of them.

Whilst Fabinho and Jordan Henderson have been lured away from Liverpool, the French centre-back seems intent on staying at Anfield and competing at the highest level.

And although the threat of Salah leaving remains, Koante rejecting a move to Saudi Arabia is a reassuring sign for Liverpool fans that the squad’s best players won’t all be leaving this window.
