Liverpool could reportedly move for Joao Felix if Mohamed Salah was to leave, with the Atletico Madrid forward a player the Reds have watched for some time.

According to journalist Dean Jones, the Portuguese international has been monitored by the Anfield side for the past few years, with Atletico now trying all they can to sell Felix this summer.

The 23-year-old, who was once labelled as a ‘generational’ player, is keen to move on, with Atletico unwilling to sell the former Benfica star due to their ridiculous demands for the attacker.

However, Liverpool could be an option for Felix if Salah was to leave for Saudi Arabia this summer, with Felix already experienced in the Premier League having spent six months on loan last season with Chelsea.

And Felix has been watched by Liverpool for some years, with Jones saying: “Obviously, Joao Felix is being touted at the moment as someone Liverpool would sign if Salah was to go.

“Joao is available on the market and he’s a player Liverpool have watched over the years because he’s Joao Felix, maybe there’s something in that, it’s interesting.”

Liverpool should stay clear of Felix this summer

Felix’s fall from European golden boy to Atletico benchwarmer has been sudden and tragic, and for Liverpool, not even they should consider a move for the forward as a replacement for Salah.

Whilst the Portuguese youngster still has incredible potential, it’s hard to see where Felix goes from here, with no European club willing to match Atletico’s demands for the 23-year-old.

And Liverpool fall into the same boat, with the Reds simply too smart to know what they’re getting themselves into if they sign Felix to replace Salah this summer.
