Kalvin Phillips reportedly has no desire to leave Manchester City this summer, with the England international linked with a move to Liverpool.

According to the Daily Mail, the 27-year-old midfielder does not want to depart the Etihad Stadium despite interest from Liverpool as well as City closing in on the signing of Matheus Nunes.

The Wolves star is expected to provide short-term cover for Kevin De Bruyne as well as competition in the midfield for Pep Guardiola’s side, which could force Phillips even further down the pecking order.

As a result, Phillips could be pushing himself into a corner by staying at City rather than moving on this summer, with Liverpool an interested party.

The Reds’ need for another midfielder would have made Phillips a regular at Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp also an ideal manager for the England international to play under.

However, Phillips has seemingly made his feelings known by committing to City, with Liverpool now back at the drawing board over who they could sign before Friday’s deadline.

Phillips to Liverpool always felt like an unlikely transfer this summer given City’s intense rivalry with the Anfield giants that has grown in recent years.

And after this update, the midfielder making the switch feels now dead in the water, with Phillips willing to fight for his spot at City despite the immense odds that are stacked against him.

For Liverpool, attentions must now switch to other players, with time running out for the Reds to secure another midfield signing before the window shuts later this week.
