Liverpool coaches have reportedly been very impressed with Darwin Nunez in training this season, with the forward the new hero at Anfield after this weekend.

According to the Athletic, coaches at Kirkby have been pleased with the 24-year-old’s dedication on the training pitch, with Nunez’s performances paying off against Newcastle United on Sunday.

The striker came off the bench to score a brace as Liverpool came from 1-0 down to claim an unlikely 2-1 win against the Magpies, with the display the best we have seen from Nunez as a Red.

Labelled as ‘chaotic’ by Planet Football, Nunez has needed this moment more than any other Liverpool player, and the forward making a big effort in training has seemingly played a role.

Based off performances in pre-season, as well, it seems clear that Nunez is making a big effort to impress both his Liverpool teammates and the coaches at the club.

And the striker’s heroics on Sunday against Newcastle will go far in Nunez becoming a starter for the Reds, with the Uruguay international having the quality to become a lethal finisher.

Nunez delivered an early contender for performance of the season as the Liverpool striker turned what looked like certain defeat into three massive points for the Anfield giants.

And the forward will no doubt now have the confidence to keep going and to potentially become Liverpool’s new talisman, with the South American in electric form this summer.

With Aston Villa next up, Nunez knows he is in with a shot of starting after his display against Newcastle, and the performance could signify the start of something amazing for the forward.
