Fabrizio Romano has confirmed on Twitter that Napoli have reached an agreement to sign Jesper Lindstrom, with the winger linked with Liverpool this summer.

The Italian journalist confirmed that the Danish international will leave Eintracht Frankfurt to join Napoli, with Lindstrom set to sign a five-year deal with the Italian giants in a €25m (£20m) transfer.

Ekstra Bladet reported via Sport Witness that Liverpool had made contact earlier this month to sign Lindstrom, though the youngster is now set to snub a move to Anfield to join Napoli.

With Liverpool also set to miss out on Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes to Manchester City, the Reds have had another poor start to the week when it comes to making new signings.

Although Lindstrom might not have been a realistic target given his position, missing out on the forward is another blue for Liverpool, who have been on the losing side of another transfer saga.

Having formed a reputation as one of the most exciting prospects in the Bundesliga, Lindstrom ticks a lot of boxes for what Jurgen Klopp likes in a wide-attacker for Liverpool.

Techincal, fast and with room to develop, Lindstrom could have been an ideal signing for Liverpool despite this summer being all about midfielders and potentially defenders.

And with Napoli now winning the youngster’s signature, Liverpool could have arguably tried harder to sign Lindstrom, who would have made for an exciting addition for the Reds.
