Stan Collymore has suggested Liverpool to move for Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo should Mohamed Salah leave this summer.

Speaking to CaughtOffside, the former Anfield star tipped Liverpool to target the Cameroon international as a replacement for Salah amid interest from Saudi Arabia.

The 24-year-old winger has been one of Brentford’s best players since the Bees’ promotion to the Premier League, with Mbeumo already scoring three goals this season.

And Collymore has now tipped the French-born forward to replace Salah if the attacker was to be sold, an outcome that is growing more likely by the day.

Indeed, Brentford might be hesitant to sell Mbeumo with Ivan Toney out until 2024, yet Liverpool could make a move if Salah was to leave for the Middle East in the coming days.

Collymore said on Mbuemo: “He’s a great player. If Salah does end up leaving Liverpool this summer then I certainly think Jurgen Klopp should consider Brentford’s number 19.”

Replacing Salah is something Liverpool were never considering heading into this summer, yet the winger’s potential exit must now put this question out in the open, with Mbeumo a candidate.

The forward has been excellent for Brentford in the last three seasons and has established himself as a reliable performer in the Premier League, with a big move almost certain to happen soon.

And Liverpool could be that club, with Mbeumo a player who can take his game to another level at Anfield if Salah is sold, leaving the Reds hunting for a replacement.
