Robbie Fowler has said that Saudi Arabia’s interest in Mohamed Salah is real, with the Liverpool winger the latest superstar that is now wanted by the Middle Eastern state.

Speaking to the Mirror, the Anfield legend and Al-Qadsiah manager revealed that Salah is a genuine target for Saudi Pro League sides, with the winger subject to interest from Al-Ittihad.

Rumours have gone into overdrive this week over Salah’s future at Liverpool, with a move to Saudi Arabia now likely, something Fowler believes could happen this summer or next year.

Fowler said: “What I will do is tell you the truth as I see it on the ground out here, the link is there because the Pro League is absolutely serious about attracting the best players.

“I’m talking from the inside here. I know what the plan is – and that is to become one of the top five leagues in the world in the next five to 10 years. And the only way to do that is to invest in real talent.

“‌Which is why I wouldn’t rule out Salah coming over here, if not this summer then at some point. And even in this window, you just don’t know, because it is not really down to clubs any more, it’s down to the player.”

Saudi Arabian interest in Salah is clearly real, with Fowler now confirming what has been reported in recent days around the Liverpool superstar.

And for the Reds, they need to do all they can to protect the winger from leaving, especially with the Saudi Arabia transfer window closing ten days after the European window closes.

Indeed, Salah is too important for Liverpool to be sold, let alone to Saudi Arabia, and Fowler’s comments must serve as a warning for the Reds.
