Liverpool completed their move for VfB Stuttgart midfielder Wataru Endo a week ago and his addition to the Reds’ squad has been met with praise from all over, including Jurgen Klopp’s former colleagues.
Featuring in a Premier League Q&A for MailOnline, Lewis Steele revealed that the £16.2million signing was the topic of conversation between Klopp and those he used to work with as many people have contacted the German manager to applaud the transfer.
“He is a good bit of business and Jurgen Klopp was privately delighted with it,” said Steele.

“Plenty of Klopp’s former colleagues have contacted him to wax lyrical about Endo, and one former Dortmund star said it could be one of the finest bits of business of his career.
“Klopp has watched footage of Endo for months and is said to be buoyed by his personality especially, with the Japanese having an infectious smile and leader-like traits. He has a near-perfect injury record and can play at right-back and centre-back as well, which is needed.

“At just £16.2million, it gives Liverpool breathing room financially to make another addition and they are still trying to do so but his arrival means they are now less desperate.”
Up next for Endo
Endo made his debut for Klopp’s men on Saturday as the Reds came from a goal behind to defeat Bournemouth 3-1 at Anfield. The Japan captain came on for the final half an hour to see out the victory over Andoni Iraola’s side.
Liverpool face a tough trip to St. James Park on Sunday afternoon as they face off against Newcastle United where Endo will be hoping to earn his first start.
Reds supporters will be eager to see more of the 30-year-old midfielder following his cameo against the Cherries, and who better to showcase his skills against than recent Champions League elect?
