Liverpool fans should keep an eye on Khephren Thuram and Manu Kone right up until next Friday’s transfer deadline.

Both players have been heavily linked with moves to Anfield over the course of the summer. But as we approach the final week of the window, neither has yet left his club.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano though, Thuram and/or Kone joining Liverpool can’t yet be ruled out. Writing in his Daily Briefing today, Romano said that while nothing is currently happening with either player, it could still.

“Khephren Thuram and Manu Kone attracted interest from Liverpool earlier in the summer, so what’s going on now?” posed the journalist. “At the moment there’s nothing advanced or concrete, there are expensive players so it’s normal; sometimes you have to decide and Liverpool preferred to invest in different kind of players.

“It looks quiet as of today, but for sure they could be two to watch until Deadline Day.”

Thuram and Kone not ruled out

It’s been a funny old window for Liverpool. Many fans will simply be desperate to see the back of it.

With nine-and-a-half days to go, we still don’t quite know whether or not the Reds will make a late addition or two.

Having brought in three players to cover their midfield, the smart money may be on nothing happening.

Liverpool are not generally later-market movers and will perhaps do their best to avoid dipping their toes in this time, too.

But the feeling amongst supporters is that they are still a little short. Both Thuram and Kone generated excitement earlier in the summer and both would be welcomed with vigour now.

Having previously ruled Thuram out due to cost, perhaps Kone is the more likely of the two to join.

As Liverpool fans, we’re not used to having something left to watch on deadline day. But this time looks set to be different. Expect more links to both these Frenchman over the coming days.
