Liverpool could reportedly ditch their plan to sign Fulham’s Joao Palhinha having landed Wataru Endo’s signature last week.
According to the Liverpool Echo, the Reds could soon take the Portuguese international off their shortlist having now signed an experienced defensive midfielder to replace Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.
Endo joined in a surprise £18m deal from VfB Stuttgart with the Japanese international already expected to play a massive role for Liverpool in the upcoming season.
However, as a result of the signing, Liverpool could now ditch plans to move for Palhinha, who at 28 would be considered by many as another experienced midfield addition.
Lauded by BBC commenter Steve Wilson as ‘outstanding’, Palhinha was a revelation in the Premier League last season for Fulham as Marco Silva’s side stayed comfortably up.

And although Palhinha would have been a great addition for Liverpool, there’s no denying that the signing could now be a pointless one with Endo now on the Reds’ books.
Liverpool ditching Palhinha interest would be for the best
Palhinha could have been a dream signing for Liverpool to replace the likes of Fabinho and Henderson, yet dropping their interest in the Fulham star could be for the best this summer.
With Endo now signed, moving for Palhinha would make little sense when Liverpool are now in the market for a versatile midfielder who is much younger than the aforementioned pair.
Moreover, at Fulham’s reported asking price, Liverpool will be financially better off moving on to other targets rather than pushing to sign Palhinha.
