Jurgen Klopp is reportedly a fan of Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone, who has been linked with Liverpool for most of the summer.

According to journalist Rudy Galetti, the Anfield boss likes the 22-year-old’s profile, with Kone re-emerging in recent weeks as a target for Liverpool have been reported with a move to Anfield already.

Galetti said about Klopp’s interest in Kone: “Manu Kone, who is also followed by Borussia Dortmund, represents another profile and is always appreciated by Klopp.”

Lauded as a ‘phenomenal’ player by former Premier League goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer, the £26m-rated Kone does certainly fit what Liverpool are looking for in a fourth and final midfield signing.

Versatile, young and experienced in a top European league, Kone could flourish under Klopp and serve as crucial backup in the Reds squad.

Moreover, Klopp’s attitude towards Kone as a player means that a deal could be accelerated, with the Anfield side aware that a transfer is better off being done sooner rather than later.
