Liverpool could reportedly make an impulse move to sign Sofyan Amrabat, with the midfielder heavily linked with a move to the Reds.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, we’re reaching a stage in the transfer window where the likes of Liverpool could make a surprise bid to sign Amrabat if the need for another midfielder is great enough.

The £25m-rated ACF Fiorentina star has emerged as a top target for Liverpool in recent days, and Amrabat could be signed by the Anfield side if they want to add more to their defensive midfield ranks.

Wataru Endo has already been recruited, yet there is an expectation that more will be done in terms of midfield signings, with Amrabat now a player who could be signed on impulse by Liverpool.

Jacobs said: “Liverpool sources have always indicated that there’s not a great deal in any suggestion of talks with Fiorentina or offers being lined up at this stage.”

The journalist added: “We’re getting to that stage of the window now where you get a bit of a merry-go-round and a bit of impulse, especially with clubs that urgently need to sign players.”

11 days remain in the transfer window with many Liverpool fans fully aware that the current midfield depth won’t be enough for the Reds to challenge in both the Premier League and in Europe.

And as a result, there’s a strong chance that another impulse signing will be made, with Amrabat a top candidate for such a position to be filled.

With an asking price of £25m, Liverpool have the finances to make the signing possible, with Amrabat seemingly keen on a move to Anfield as well.
