Liverpool reportedly believe that Khephren Thuram is not as ready for the Premier League when compared to the likes of Moises Caicedo.

According to French football journalist Jonathan Johnson, the Reds are of the opinion that the OGC Nice star might not be ready yet to take on the challenges of the Premier League.

Johnson said: “Liverpool could renew their interest in Thuram in the final few weeks of the window, but there is a feeling that he is less Premier League-ready than the likes of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.”

With Thuram earning his breakout season last year in Ligue 1, it makes sense why Liverpool might not yet feel like the 22-year-old is ready to make the move to England.

However, given how physical the French top-flight is and how many players have impressed having made the move from France to the Premier League, Liverpool’s judgement could be some miles off the truth.

Indeed, Thuram won plaudits last season for being able to compete against some of the best in France and beyond in the UEFA Europa Conference League, and the midfielder could flourish at Liverpool.

Having made one of the hardest leagues in Europe look like a piece of cake, Thuram is more than ready for a move to the Premier League, with Liverpool an ideal destination.

The Reds are in need of a physical midfielder who can do a job in numerous roles, and Thuram fits the bill to a tee, even if Nice’s £60m price tag is quite steep.

With time running out, Liverpool need to make their move soon for Thuram, who could find himself wanted by another club if the Reds are too slow to make a bid for the Frenchman.
