Liverpool have reportedly made a move to sign VfB Stuttgart captain Wataru Endo, with Jorg Schmadtke behind the deal.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Reds have made a formal offer to sign the 30-year-old Japanese international, with Endo open on a move to Anfield.
A 50-cap international with Japan, nobody would have predicted Liverpool to move for Endo, though the versatile defensive midfielder does fit what Jurgen Klopp is looking for.
One of the most experienced Japanese players to ever play in Europe, Endo would fill the void left by Fabinho and Jordan Henderson at a fraction of what other targets would cost in the market.
Moreover, with Schmadtke fueling the deal, there’s a good chance that the Liverpool sporting director has found a bargain for the Reds before the closure of the window.

Endo could be a diamond in the rough for Liverpool

Few Liverpool fans will know much about Endo, but given what the Anfield side need, the Japanese international could be a sensational coup for Klopp this summer.
With the midfielder perfect for what the Reds have been lacking, there’s every chance that Endo could be one of the bargains of the window for a Premier League side.
Moreover, the shock factor of this deal could mean that the transfer might be announced sooner rather than later, a massive step in the right direction for Liverpool.
