Callum Wilson has tipped Chelsea to finish higher than Liverpool in the Premier League having beaten the Reds to the signings of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.
Speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, the Newcastle United striker predicted Mauricio Pochettino’s side to get the better of Liverpool this season in the Premier League standings.
The two sides met on the opening day of the season as Liverpool came away from west London with a 1-1 draw, though Chelsea took a significant win away from the pitch in the transfer market.

The Blues pipped Liverpool to the signing of Caicedo for a Premier League record, with Lavia now set to join in a separate deal that will leave Jurgen Klopp’s side empty-handed.
As a result, Wilson now thinks Chelsea will finish above Liverpool, with the striker saying: “I think Chelsea will probably finish higher than Liverpool just because they have invested heavily and they are still active in the market at the moment.

“Which is only going to strengthen their position whereas Liverpool are losing targets which are then going to Chelsea, which isn’t strengthening their position.”
Liverpool can prove Wilson very wrong after Chelsea prediction

Liverpool might have been humiliated by Chelsea in the transfer market, but the Blues spending big is no guarantee that they will succeed this season, with last year a perfect example to such a claim.
And as a result, Liverpool now have a great chance at proving Wilson wrong if they can go on to best the west London side in the Premier League rankings later this year.
If the Reds can bring in a defensive midfielder, Liverpool have already made one big step to beating Chelsea in the standings this season, a prospect many fans are already picturing.
