Liverpool could reportedly target Aston Villa duo Boubacar Kamara and Douglas Luiz after missing out on Moises Caicedo to Chelsea.

According to journalist Neil Jones, the pair could emerge as options for Liverpool this window with Caicedo and Romeo Lavia both heading to west London despite offers from the Reds.

Jones said when asked who Liverpool could now target: “Boubacar Kamara or Douglas Luiz are possibilities, but they’re quite settled at Aston Villa and heading in the right direction.”

Kamara and Luiz both started for Villa this weekend in their 5-1 defeat to Newcastle United, yet there’s no denying that the duo could be good targets for Liverpool in the coming weeks.

The Reds are eager to sign a defensive midfielder having allowed Fabinho and Jordan Henderson to leave earlier in the window, and one of Kamara or Luiz could fill the void currently engulfing Liverpool’s squad.

Although Villa could push back on any move for the pair, Liverpool’s reputation and Premier League title aspirations could sway Kamara or Luiz into pushing for a switch to Anfield in the coming weeks.

Time is running out for Liverpool to sign a midfielder having fumbled so badly for Caicedo and now Lavia, and one of Kamara or Luiz could be perfect for Jurgen Klopp.

The dup thrived last season for Emery as Villa qualified for Europe, and Luiz and Kamara could be keen on moving to Liverpool to take their careers to the next level.

Whilst a transfer will be expensive, either player has the quality to fill the void left by Fabinho and Henderson, though Kamara’s CV could make the French international the more appealing player.
