Fabrizio Romano has hinted that Liverpool return for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone, with the Reds previously linked with the youngster.

Taking to Twitter, the Italian transfer guru teased that Liverpool could reignite their interest in the French youngster, who has only just returned to training after being out injured for most of the summer.

Heading into the window, Kone was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool having established himself as one of the best midfield talents in all of Germany with Gladbach.

However, and injury ruled the 22-year-old out of both pre-season and France’s U-21 Euros campaign, with interest in Kone from the likes of Liverpool dwindling as a result.

Yet with Kone now back in training, Liverpool could choose to reignite their interest in Kone, especially with Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo joining Chelsea this week.

Lauded by Mark Schwarzer as a ‘phenomenal’ talent, Kone ticks a lot of boxes for what Liverpool are looking for in a defensive midfield signing this summer.

Whilst not a complete natural in the no. 6 role, Kone’s potential and experience with Gladbach makes the youngster a good alternative for the Reds having missed out on Caicedo and Lavia.

Indeed, with time running out for Jurgen Klopp to make a signing, Kone could be a good option given the situation the Anfield side currently find themselves in, especially with the player now back from injury.
