Benjamin Pavard has reportedly agreed a contract offer to join Manchester United, with Liverpool linked with the Bayern Munich defender all summer.

According to Bild, the French international has agreed terms with the Red Devils over a deal to join the Manchester giants, though Erik Ten Hag’s side still need to reach an agreement with Bayern.

As per the report, Liverpool have been keeping tabs on Pavard all summer, though the defender is now expected to join United once a transfer fee can be reached between the two clubs.

Rumoured to be available for €40m (£34m), Pavard seems determined to leave Bayern this summer, and United have now emerged as the most likely destination for the Bundesliga superstar.

Whilst Liverpool would have been a dream move for the versatile centre-back, the Reds have again fallen behind in a transfer race to a rival club, with United set to benefit massively.

Indeed, Pavard could have been a dream defensive signing for Liverpool this summer, yet once again, their incompetence in the market is going to cost the Reds dearly.

Accomplished at both centre-back and right-back, it’s hard to think of a defender more suited to what Liverpool need this summer than Pavard.

Yet as we now know, the Frenchman is closing in on a move to United, with Liverpool again losing out on a key transfer battle that could have significantly improved their squad.

With Liverpool no closer to making a new signing, Pavard joining United will be viewed as another blow to many fans, with the defender a perfect option for the Anfield side this window.
