Liverpool have reportedly agreed a £60m deal to sign Romeo Lavia, with the Reds now potentially the favourites to sign the

According to the Guardian’s Jacob Steinburg, Liverpool have trumped Chelsea’s £55m offer to sign the Belgian international, who might need convincing to move to Anfield in the coming days.

Praised by Total Football Analysis as a ‘ridiculous’ talent, Lavia looked set to be heading to Chelsea, though this later offer could change everything for Liverpool.

This £60m offer for Lavia will be Liverpool’s fourth in total for the Southampton midfielder having had three previous bids rejected by the Saints for the teenage prospect.

The Championship side have stuck to a £50m price tag all summer for Lavia. However, Chelsea’s £55m offer for the midfielder last week has changed the entire dynamic of the deal, though it’s one that Liverpool are willing to fight for.

Liverpool’s approach for Lavia this summer has been nothing short of weird, with the Anfield side now set to pay over the odds for a player the Reds could have signed for just £50m a few days ago.

However, as we know, the transfer market is an ever-changing beast, with Liverpool now in the midst of a battle with Chelsea that is likely to see the Reds come out as victors for Lavia.

Indeed, whilst £60m is a lot for the 19-year-old, there will be a sense of relief amongst supporters that Lavia might now be heading to Liverpool, with previous reports stating that Chelsea were the most likely side to land the midfielder.
