Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard is reportedly open on a move to Manchester United despite rumoured interest from Liverpool.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the French international is keen on making the switch to Old Trafford, with United increasing their interest in Pavard in recent weeks.

As per journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern are open to selling Pavard this summer for €40m (£34m), an asking price that United could be keen on matching with their next approach for the defender.

With Liverpool still firmly interested in Pavard, the Reds can’t allow United to get the upper hand in the race to sign the French international.

Although Jurgen Klopp’s side are trying to sign a midfielder, losing focus on a defender like Pavard could prove fatal heading into the new Premier League season.

Able to play both centre-back an right-back, there’s few defenders in the market this summer that are as perfect for Liverpool than Pavard, which is why United’s interest is such an issue.

The Reds know they need to add to their defence this summer, and with three weeks left to bring in reinforcements to the backline, Liverpool have to get into gear into their pursuit for Pavard.

And United’s interest should be the spark that ignites Liverpool into action, with Pavard simply too ideal for the Reds to miss out on this summer.
