Dominik Szoboszlai says he has been closest to Ibrahima Konate since joining Liverpool this summer.

The Hungarian midfielder became the Reds second signing of the window, joining at the beginning of July. Since then he’s been away to Germany and Singapore with his new teammates.

As Szoboszlai gears up for his first Premier League game this weekend, he spoke to liverpoolfc.com about the settling in process.

“I know Ibou from Leipzig, so when I came he was the main guy who I spoke to the most because I knew him,” admitted the 22-year-old. “But actually, everybody is really nice; Trent [Alexander-Arnold], Cody [Gakpo], Mo [Salah], everybody is trying to help me and if I have something, they are there.

“I understand English but my German is better, so if it’s a serious talk [with the manager] it’s probably going to be in German!”

As Liverpool move on from the era of Jordan Henderson, Roberto Firmino, James Milner et al, new personalities will come to the fore.

The squad is now pretty different to just two years ago, with nine senior players leaving over the past two summers.

In their place have come young, fresh players who are now ready to really make their mark.

Konate is one of those. Two years on from his £35m arrival, the Frenchman is now an undisputed starter for Jurgen Klopp and has a big personality to go with that status.

In videos from the club this summer, Ibou has always been front and centre, always laughing, always involving his teammates.

Szoboszlai is another who doesn’t seem like the shy and retiring type. The Hungary captain appears to be as confident as they come, equipped with a steely determination to make a success of himself at Anfield.

Alongside Konate and the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Cody Gakpo, he looks set to be part of a group of future leaders for Liverpool.
