Diogo Jota has named Kostas Tsimikas as the funniest player and teammate in Liverpool’s squad.

Speaking to the club’s official Twitter account, the Portuguese international named the 27-year-old defender as the funniest player in the squad.

Signed for around £12m in 2020, Tsimikas has earned a reputation for himself off the pitch both with fans and his teammates for his personality and humour.

Nicknamed ‘The Greek Scouser’, the former Olympiakos star has become a cult hero at Anfield despite spending his entire career at Liverpool as second-fiddle to Andy Robertson.

Yet the left-back has remained a fan-favourite at Liverpool, and Jota’s comments on Tsimikas as the funniest player in the squad is perhaps no real surprise.

Tsimikas and Jota could realistically start the season as backup options for Liverpool, but with the Reds competing in the UEFA Europa League, the duo will play their part in the upcoming campaign.

Rotation will be key if Jurgen Klopp is to challenge for top-four and European silverware, and Tsimikas and Jota could prove to be excellent squad options for the Liverpool boss.

The Greek defender, especially, could benefit massively from featuring in Europe, with Tsimikas potentially set to play the most minutes he has ever played in a single season for Liverpool.
