Tyler Adams is reportedly open to a move to Chelsea, despite Liverpool being interested in signing the Leeds United midfielder.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, the USA international is keen on a return to the Premier League this summer having been relegated with the Yorkshire giants last season, with Adams eager to sign for Chelsea.

With a relegation release clause of £20m, Adams would be quite the coup for most Premier League sides, with 90min reporting that Liverpool are interested in the defensive midfielder.

However, it now appears that Adams is set on a move to Chelsea, with the Blues likely to target the 24-year-old as competition or even as an alternative to Brighton & Hove Albion star Moises Caicedo.

Indeed, Liverpool could have been a great destination for Adams this summer, yet with Chelsea already in the lead and the player himself now wanting a move to west London, there might be little the Reds can do to stop this move.

Liverpool’s need for a defensive midfielder is evident this month, with the Reds currently stumbling over their pursuit to sign Romeo Lavia from Southampton.

Yet in Adams, the Merseyside giants could have secured one of the bargains of the summer in the USA international, with Leeds allowed to sell the midfielder for just £20m.

As we know, Liverpool are being tight with Southampton over Lavia, and Adams could have been a dream alternative had Chelsea not pushed so far ahead in the race to sign the midfielder.
