Fabrizio Romano has tipped Romeo Lavia to become Liverpool’s next signing, with the Reds still in talks with Southampton over the teenage midfielder.
Speaking on Born and Red, the Italian transfer guru made the prediction that the 19-year-old prospect will be Liverpool’s next official piece of business in the summer market, with the Anfield side keen on Lavia.
Romano said when quizzed about who Liverpool’s next signing will be: “I keep insisting on Romeo Lavia and I keep believing that Romeo Lavia is going to be the next signing.”

Lavia has been strongly linked with Liverpool all summer with the Reds making three reported bids for the midfielder in recent weeks, attempts that has all been shot down by Southampton.
The Championship side have been insistent on a £50m fee throughout the window, yet Liverpool have not matched this asking price despite coming close to Southampton’s demands.

Indeed a fee should have been agreed some time ago with Liverpool’s Premier League opener now just six days away, yet talks remain ongoing between the Reds and the Saints for the ‘incredible’ Lavia.
Liverpool have to ensure Lavia is signed by this weekend

Liverpool’s pursuit for Lavia has been sloppy and all over the place, with few fans predicting the saga to take this long heading into the Premier League opener this weekend.
As a result, the Reds are now in a battle against the clock to get Lavia signed up by this Sunday’s clash against Chelsea, a game that the midfielder could still miss even if he is made official today.
Time has not been Liverpool’s friend this summer, and the Reds have to do all they can to sign up Lavia as quickly as possible before the Premier League resumes this week.
