Tim Vickery has suggested that reported Liverpool target Andre Trindade could well be the perfect Jurgen Klopp midfielder.

Andre has emerged as one of Liverpool’s prime targets for the remainder of the transfer window. With talks at an impasse over Romeo Lavia, the 22-year-old is seen as being a cheaper alternative.

And speaking to Football Daily today, South American football expert Vickery has claimed that Andre would be a great fit at Anfield.

Andre Liverpool

“There’s a reason that he’s probably at the top of many club’s wish lists from South America at the moment,” began the journalist. “He’s a defensive midfielder. The way that Fluminense play, they’re very, very front loaded. They’re a very unorthodox side. The way that they play means they leave a huge amount of space to cover, and he’s the man who has to cover that space.

“So, he’s quick. He’s quick around the field, he’s quick running back. They also pass out from the back in an almost suicidal manner, which means he’s continually having to receive the ball close to his own goal under pressure. So these are really honed skills that are useful for a Jurgen Klopp side. That high defensive line, that space there to cover.

“He very nearly went to the World Cup, he was in contention and subsequently played for Brazil. You can certainly see him slotting right in with his physical, technical attributes.

“That capacity to cover space, to pass the ball out under pressure, you could certainly see him fitting in to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.”

Vickery gives Andre verdict

Prior to this week, there’s a good chance that a pretty large portion of Liverpool fans had never heard of Andre.

He’d been tentatively linked with the club back in June, but it then went quiet until things kicked off on Tuesday.

Well, they certainly know about him now. And given the picture Vickery paints of him here, supporters have good reason to get excited about this potential addition.

Andre Liverpool

Of course, it’s one thing pulling up trees in the Brazilian Serie A, it’s another entirely to do the same in the Premier League. But Vickery has form in calling these things correctly.

Back in June 2022, he predicted that then Palmeiras midfielder Danilo would be one to watch. Six months later, the 22-year-old then headed to Nottingham Forest, where he was a key figure in keeping them safe from relegation.

With another season in the Premier League to come, you could see the Brazilian excelling even further in 2023/24.

So, when Vickery speaks about these players, it’s always best to listen. He knows what he’s talking about. If his observations are accurate, then Andre really does sound like being exactly what Liverpool need.
