Sporting Lisbon are reportedly ready to pay a club-record fee to sign Andre Trindade, though Liverpool are still in the hunt for the midfielder.

According to A Bola, the Portuguese giants are ready to smash their all-time transfer record for the second time this summer with a €25m move for the ‘incredible’ Fluminense star. Though as per the report, Liverpool are still a threat.

The Anfield side have ramped up their interest in Andre in the last few days, yet Sporting are not ready to give up just yet in their own pursuit for the 22-year-old Brazilian.

Brazil to Portugal is a popular pipeline for players given the lack of a language barrier and how the two countries share the same climate. Yet Liverpool’s stature and financial power could be too much for Sporting for Andre.

Moreover, Sporting’s spending this summer might put the Lisbon-based side in a corner with how much they can actually spend for Andre, an issue Liverpool won’t have this summer.

As a result, Liverpool could consider themselves strong favourites for Andre, with Sporting needing a miracle if they’re to beat the Reds to the Brazilian youngster this window.

Liverpool seem keen to sign both Romeo Lavia and Andre before the closure of the summer window, and the Reds could have the power to blow Sporting out of the water for the Brazilian.

Whilst the Portuguese side seem eager to bring Andre to Europe and to give him a platform to become a regular, Liverpool’s interest could simply be too much for Sporting to handle.

With Liverpool also likely to give Andre plenty of minutes given how much rotation the Reds will undergo next season, the player himself could prefer a move to England rather than Portugal this summer.
