Don Hutchinson has suggested that Liverpool could win the Premier League title if they sign Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo.

Taking to Twitter, the former Anfield star claimed that the Reds could be in with a shout of the English title if they were to beat the likes of Chelsea to the Ecuador international, who is keen to leave the Seagulls this summer.

Caicedo has this week been subject to an £80m bid from the Blues, one that Brighton rejected as they continue to stick to their £100m valuation for the 21-year-old midfield sensation, with Liverpool still interested.

However, given the demands Roberto De Zerbi’s have been making for Caicedo, the chances of the Merseyside club coming in for Caicedo this summer remain as small as they have ever been.

Moreover, with Liverpool pushing hard to sign Romeo Lavia, it appears that the Reds are more focused on other targets than Caicedo, despite how perfect the midfielder would be for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Liverpool should take a risk and bid for Caicedo

Caicedo is well above anything Liverpool can afford this summer, but with a claim as big Hutchinson’s being made, there might be no hard in the Reds making an opening offer for the midfielder.

As we know, Caicedo is keen to leave Brighton this summer for one of England’s elite, and with Chelsea struggling to agree on a fee for the 21-year-old, Liverpool could make a sneaky attempt of their own to bring the midfielder to Anfield.

Of course, such a move would likely rely on Liverpool abandoning their pursuit for Lavia and other targets, yet given how good a player Caicedo is, such a risk could be worth it if Brighton are willing to negotiate.
