Jurgen Klopp has said that Alexis Mac Allister did not suffer an injury today against Bayern Munich after going down in the opening half.

Speaking to LFCTV, the German manager confirmed that no players were injured in Liverpool’s 4-3 loss to the Bundesliga side, with Mac Allister coming away with nothing despite looking hurt before halftime.

Klopp said when asked about the fitness of his players: “We had tired legs today. It was really tough. With the weather and where we are after the second game. But nobody got injured, that’s most important.”

Mac Allister looked like he had sustained a serious injury after the midfielder collided with a Bayern player just before the break, prompting a number of Liverpool players to call for the physios to come on.

Thankfully, the Argentine international has come away with nothing sinister based on Klopp’s reaction post-match, with Mac Allister likely to feature in Liverpool’s final pre-season fixture next week.

Indeed, the 24-year-old midfielder has impressed for Liverpool since arriving from Brighton & Hove Albion this summer, and Mac Allister staying fit will be key for Klopp’s plans for the new Premier League season.

Injuries in pre-season can disrupt an entire team’s plans depending on which player is struck down, and Klopp will be relieved that Mac Allister has escaped from picking up something in Singapore.

The Liverpool no. 10 has already established himself as a key player for Liverpool, and Mac Allister’s role in this new-look midfield will be vital in the Reds picking up wins at the start of the season.

Whilst there was real cause for concern for Mac Allister during the game, Klopp’s reassurance is massive for the coming weeks, where preparations for the Premier League will be key.
